Spa Gregorie's in Del Mar, CA

So begins my journey of getting out more. Sometimes when you've gone through a season of hunkering down you are reminded to get out there and enjoy the local offerings.

Today I visited Spa Gregorie's in Del Mar for a 1 hour full body massage. Thankfully, Matt who took my info via phone warned me about parking, it was filling up quickly at 8:30 a.m. The entry smelled delightful like a spa should, and the staff was courteous as they checked me in and toured me through the guest lockers, steam and waiting lounge. The lighting was dim and atmosphere was tranquil with soft music piped in.

My therapist was running just a tad behind, but she never skimped on the length of time, giving me a full hour of treatment, paying special attention to my problem areas around my neck.

I took advantage of the steam room before and after my treatment which was the most powerful steam room I'd ever been in. Once that motor kicked on I felt like I was in a spaceship as the room filled with hot bellowing steam. The only thing that would have made it better was some eucalyptus.

The showers were stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body soap. I did notice some mildew and grout staining from old mold, but I'm sure they can fix that no problem.  Post shower there were plenty of lotions and products to use and I decided on some rosemary scented lotion.

Checking out was a bit strange. My service was for $99 and I gave them $100 in gift cards. The receptionist did not offer to give me a dollar in return, she just told me the cards covered the cost of my service. I didn't want to feel foolish about a dollar, but that was the cup of coffee I wanted to buy on my way home.

All in all, the experience was pleasurable and easy. I give my visit 3 out of 5 stars.
